Mixed Media Animation: Evie

2010

Evie was a short mixed media animation created for my final year thesis for my Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Digital Animation. The concept was a depiction of an abstraction of birth, as a baby journeyed through a surreal dreamscape. The intent of the project was to pay homage to some of my favourite animation techniques and mediums learnt over the course of my studies. Animation techniques included stop motion (with gummy bears, coloured sand, plasticine) and digital 2D animation overlaid on the frames. The animation was set to a musical score for mood and rhythm.

The animation was nominated for Best Animation for the 2011 Singapore Short Film Awards.

Animation is hosted on Viddsee (1m29s).

Stop motion (Canon 450D) and digital animation (Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro).
