Year of the Dog 2018
It’s been a while since Chinese New Year happened in mid February (or since I last updated), but this radio silence resulted because I’ve finally moved to my new home! So many boxes to unpack, so many surfaces to clean… with everything that’s been going on lately, this Lunar New Year became both a reprieve from responsibilities while further taxing my energy. It was still a good thing to have taken the chance to catch up with family though; turns out that they weren’t too pleased about my lack of updates either. Oops?
We had our reunion dinner at my brother’s this year. Here’s our steamboat, plus my Instastory snap on how we made sure that our Lohei toss didn’t get all over the floor:
Wearing Cotton On dress, Topshop socks, Kurt Geiger shoes.
I wore a flirty pale pink dress for the first day of Chinese New Year. This faux wrap was something that I bought on sale a few months ago, and was a result of my realisation that I do not own a dress in a shade of girly pink (blue’s more my colour). I actually wore it once before, but since I don’t follow the custom of buying new clothes for the festivities, I thought that re-wearing this number would fit the red theme. I also thought that it would be nice to present a pair of peaches (representing longevity) instead of mandarin oranges when we visited my grandaunt’s! Insisted on getting a pair of mandarin oranges when we left so that they could enjoy juicy peaches.
We went back to my brother’s for a popiah and kueh pie tee dinner:
My outfit for day 2 was oh-so-comfy, and I’m planning to re-wear this top/pants combo for work someday:
Wearing Mango top, Pomelo pants, RAWROW bag, Topman socks, Melissa sandals.
Got to play with a selfie stick at the second day of house-visiting:
新年快乐。
