Suit Up, it’s Boulders Beach
Boulders is home to the African Penguin after a colony of them settled in the western cape of South Africa in 1985. Ant generously drove us down south to meet these well-dressed birds one day, because he is a great host like that. But first, we made a quick stop the next town over at Simon’s Town for lunch, where the skies are blue and leisure yachts are aplenty.
I like how eateries in this city make it a habit to treat customers with some sweets while presenting the bill. Yum.
Bellies full of fish and burgers, we continued our journey to find some fancy avians. Also, let me just stew in anger at the sheer beauty of this country once again… Ottie and I had a joke going on that the entire country is photoshopped – it’s just so unreal! The blue of the sky and waters is just unbelievable.
No surprise how Boulders Beach got its name.
We spotted 108 penguins while strolling down the boardwalk!
I dressed to match the penguins’ monochromatic colour scheme, but couldn’t resist a pop of colour in the red of my very useful satchel (it was large enough to hold my camera) and the bling of my vacation go-to shoes.
We made our way to Rocky Shores to catch the sunset:
Ant, Ottie, and me walk very differently from each other. Being pigeon-tied myself, I like noticing how other people walk sometimes.
Not proud to admit that I mistook this handprint for a dog’s paw print.
Guys please stop trying to scare me.
Too beautiful.
