Remember my last outfit in this denim dress? I mentioned how I lost the belt that came with it. But then I realised that that wasn’t any reason for me not to use other kinds of belts languishing in my belt drawer. It’s a pity that this belt is on the verge of death. It’s served me well over the past few years though, so its inevitable passing will not come as a surprise.
Anyway, it was a good hair day. :D
I must say that I’m very happy that the internet has become such a useful information bank. I came across this rest spot in the evening one day, mistakenly thought that the beautiful lavender flowers were morning glories, and wondered why the blooms hadn’t already closed off. My memories of morning glories were vague, having last seen them on the fence leading to the gate of my primary school so many years ago. All I remembered were the purple, trumpet-like blooms (they’re called [喇叭花] in Mandarin, literally ‘trumpet flower’), the vines, and their propensity to close their petals in the evening. But I guess I’d forgotten just how conical the blooms could be.
Fifteen minutes of trying out varied keywords (‘purple flower vine’, ‘blue five petal vine’), and a bit of reverse image searching later, I finally found out that this vine is named Thunbergia grandiflora, perhaps more commonly known as sky vine. I would never have figured it out this quickly, or even ever, had I been confined to the limits of the Britannica Encyclopedia I used to own, or the static images in books. Viva digital library!
I love RGB-themed outfits way too much.
