On Splurging
It’s been a long time since I’ve incorporated suspenders into my look. 懐かしい!I’m also wearing my newest favourite item- the Bec & Bridge Bitter & Twisted Textured Top. I’m in love. I’ve worn it no less than thrice over the past week now. This and the beautiful Jeffrey Campbell cut-out booties on my feet are my two newest acquisitions from Shopbop; it really has been a wonderful collaboration so far. Having been exposed to so many high-end brands on the site, and actually owning a few pieces now as a result of it, I’ve been noticing a gradual shift in perspective on paying more for quality. I’ve always been pretty careful with my clothes, so even really cheap stuff lasts a long time. However, now that I’ve had the luxury of realising the difference in comfort level, I’ll be sure to factor that into what might be a steeper price than I would consider for clothes now.
Of course, there are times when the price is unjustifiably steep, so I guess that it also depends on the kind of item as well. Would I splurge on a dress that I’d only wear once, or would I rather spend the same amount on a decent pair of shoes that I could wear again and again? I love to mix and match my clothes, that way I’d never get tired of them as individual pieces. That’s the whole reason why I started documenting my clothes in the first place- the possibilities of my wardrobe are virtually endless, and I like it that way. And I think I’ll just splurge a little more to be comfortable while at it.
