Los Angeles: Churros Calientes & Barney’s Beanery
I had to go back to Churros Calientes the night before I left Los Angeles. It’s so good. So. Good. This is a definite stop if I ever go back to LA! I’d highly recommend it to anyone in the Westwood area. (Looking at you, Jesca.)
Zen, Qiu, Marta, Ren, Hunter, and Json- those of us who were there early. I thought it was just a small group of five, but omg so many more people joined us for dinner! So touched. TwT
Victor decided to join in the group shot, so he gingerly balanced my camera on someone’s street-parked car.
Victor also said that if we had twitter, we could hashtag our tweets with #churroscalientes and it’d show up on their display screen. It was so long since I had to log in to my account that I actually forgot my password. But here’s my tweet, on my ‘vintage’ iPhone 3GS and decapitated hippo stickers.
My tweet below Marta’s on the digital screen in the cafe. :D
The awesome hot chocolate from Churros Calientes are something I’ve never had elsewhere before. It’s so thick and fragrant and I can’t stop gushing about it.
Dipping the eponymous churro into the delectable goodness that is their hot chocolate. Ordering the Churros con Chocolate gives you a basket of six original churros and what should be at least your second cup of hot chocolate because you just can’t get enough of it.
Hunter and I shared a panini, since we were going to gorge ourselves on churros and hot chocolate after. I’ve tried their panini and soups before, and even the food at Churros Calientes is so good.
Hunter took this photo of me and auto-focused on Victor who photobombed this photo. XD
Victor taking a photo of all of us using Marta’s camera.
The group photo that Victor took! Taken from Marta.
Owner and me! I think he’s always in that same tee. XD
I got another cup of hot chocolate on the house by the way. Thank you owner!
Tallying the bill. I had such trouble trying to tally our bill that Qiu was roped in to double-check my workings. It wasn’t until much later that she realised that we’d both forgotten about Marta’s soup! I apologise for being a disgrace.
And I got a second cup of hot chocolate right before leaving! To think that I was savouring the first cup for the road. TwT
We headed down to Barney’s Beanery for drinks after dinner. Hunter, Qiu, and Anmol had peaced out by then.
We had a Malibu Mistress, after I remembered that Lilli mentioned liking it.
Marta got Zen and I magnets of her hometown, Bergamo. Wow!
Conan had gotten me a huge present in a red plastic bag, and I only opened it in Barney’s Beanery to find that it was a hamper full of chocolates. TwT
Conan and I got a pineapple drink for all of us to share.
And here I present to you, Zen’s many stages of drunkenness:
Here’s a recap of the night at Barney’s Beanery:

Zen is such a drunk cutie. ♥
Last I see of this elevator home.
It was such a waste the next morning after my rush to pack my stuff that I forgot my second cup of hot chocolate in the fridge! Might I say, sadded. :(
