Her World x Optic Butler
I was supposed to be Jody‘s plus one for the Her World x Optic Butler event last Thursday, but she couldn’t make it at the last moment, so she very kindly arranged for me to take her place and got Ottie to be my plus one instead. Thank you! <3
Here’s what I wore for the event. I originally wanted to dress in a cropped sweater from Forever 21 and my trusty Uniqlo ultra stretch jeans, but that pair of jeans has undergone so much distress that someone asked if the hole in my butt was intentional. I HAD FORGOTTEN ABOUT THAT. And I wasn’t even wearing black undies to disguise it. 😂
I wound up going home to switch my outfit into something more appropriate but just as comfortable – this Cotton On dress is lightweight and instantly flattering, striking a good balance for an evening event once I added my favourite glittery shawl from Ross Dress for Less and new favourite Steve Madden boots. All in all, I suppose this outfit cost half of what I’d have paid normally thanks to all my bargain hunting.
Ottie and I suffered from myopia since we were kids – at age five, I didn’t even realise that blurry vision was abnormal until two years later when my younger brother voiced out his own short-sightedness. Coincidentally, Bro was also five when this sucky hereditary trait sunk its claws into his eyeballs, so I guess there was no escape for us siblings. I sometimes wonder just how young I’d have perished back when corrective lenses weren’t invented and made readily available for plebs…
Anyway, on to the event at Paragon! Ottie and I were surprised to find that they had a catering set up by PAUL – we were originally intending to catch something to bite for dinner after, but this worked out in our favour. These bite-sized noms were so pretty and yummy that I quickly developed a food baby in between these and the champagne and the red wine.
There was a short demonstration on how to choose the right size, shape, and colour frames for your face and skin tone.
Representatives from Anna Sui also demonstrated makeup for people wearing glasses.
Ottie was searching for new prescriptions to replace his three year old ones, which we later found out were wrongly prescribed in one eye thanks to the language barrier in Korea. D’oh!
We had a go at the Dior Split sunglasses. Love them!
I basically spammed my Snapchat with our quest to find awesome frames to try on. 😂
I also discovered MYKITA‘s lookbook and beautiful gold sunglasses – spent a while flipping through the pretty pictures and wishing I were on a coastal vacation once more:
Thank you stranger for helping us take a photo!
Goodie bag goodies: a box of 100 pieces of Glasso lens cleaning wet tissue (perfect for me to clean everything on the go), an Anna Sui mascara plus some vouchers, and a pair of Nine West sunglasses. Yay! Plus ones got the same bag but without the Nine Wests.
We headed over to Five Tapas Bar after the event to celebrate Jacq’s end of exams. Yay! Got ourselves a sweet bucket of Somersby Apple Cider and some noms, because somehow Ottie and I became hungry again.
Thanks for your nice smiles, strangers in the background.
Prosciutto Pizza. Pretty nommy.
Cheers to good friends. :)
