Chuck Taylors
I finally own my very first pair of Converse Chuck Taylors thanks to Shopbop!!!
Twirling my feet in excitement.
It’s slightly different though- this pair of Rubber Coated Chuck Taylor All Star Sneakers called out to me when I was browsing the new arrivals at Shopbop. It’s no secret that I’ve always been attracted to bright things, and with the monsoon season upon Singapore, I thought that the rubber coat was a brilliant, practical take on the ubiquitous sneaker… though I later realised that the traction of the soles weren’t up to par for the rain. Well what do you know, Shasha later confirmed that all Converse shoes do not perform well on frictionally-challenged surfaces. Still, bright. Shiny. And pretty darn comfy.
On a side note, reading up on why Chuck Taylors are call Chuck Taylors reminded me of how it’s been years since I last touched a basketball. Leaving school and its mandatory PE lessons has been bad for my health. My recent health checkup showed that I’m the unwitting owner of borderline high cholesterol. Yes, I’m one of those people who are thin on the outside and fat on the inside. It’s been making me rethink my lackadaisical attitude towards eating all the sinful food I’m so fond of. I don’t want to be struck down in my prime; I want to die senile and comfortable in my wrinkly skin… strike that- I don’t want to die. :P
Anyway, this rubber-coated series is apparently a very new line, which makes it a pretty sweet steal from Shopbop. I’ve been going on about all the luxury items the website offers in my previous posts, but they do also stock a selection of the more affordable brands, and pretty closely to the trends at that. This was one of those few times in my life when I could scream out, “First!!!!” with confidence.
