Christmas 2018

Merry Christmas! I had the opportunity to score a couple of festive dresses with Femme Luxe, who reached out to me recently to style some dresses from their collection. To be honest, I was initially hesitant about the overtly sexy appeal of their collection and models, but hey, it was an opportunity to discover how these dresses would translate onto a frame that’s pretty much the opposite. In the spirit of experimentation, I also picked dresses that I’d normally not gravitate towards – plaid and cheetah prints, welcome to my wardrobe.

I’m just very relieved that I didn’t wind up looking like I’d donned a tablecloth as I feared with plaid patterns! I suppose it helped that the Juliette – a red tartan off-shoulder plaid dress – came with a belt that cinches at the waist for its silhouette, potentially dispelling all notions of using myself as a picnic mat…

Red Tartan Bardot Long Sleeve Dress with Belt from also re-used my extra long santa hat that I got last year. Best festive purchase ever.

Chilled with a camel at the Maritime Experiential Museum in Sentosa. This was a route that Ai and I had to go through in order to access the ‘Hello, One Piece’ exhibition which is up until the end of the year!

The ‘Hello, One Piece’ exhibition was a pretty small one, featuring badly-translated english descriptions of the original japanese copy (if you’re one to be concerned about that), but also a bunch of really cool original artworks. The video showing mangaka Oda Eiichiro’s process was also eye-opening – we even got to get close to a replication of his desk! Word of advice though, skip the VR experience. It’s not worth the extra SGD $8 to sit and watch as artworks showed up. We were honestly hoping that the VR segment would take advantage of the experiential interaction of the medium, so that was a bit of a disappointment.

I wore the Bobbie – a cheetah print silky shirt dress – on my date with Ai the very next day at Uniqlo’s Holiday Gathering event. Details were pretty vague about this event, so we were pleasantly surprised to be greeted by a fun fabric button workshop manned by Sew Into It when we arrived! There were even donuts and drinks that Ai and I didn’t enjoy because we were too engrossed with our embroidery. Check it out on my Instagram post here.

Uniqlo sg Holiday Gathering Christmas 2018

2018 has been a year of firsts for me – ‘owning’ my first home (heh), participating in my first Inktober, welcoming a brand new nephew, an impromptu trip for a con, patterns. It’s been a ride being able to experience interesting things, and am looking forward to what new stuff 2019 will bring.

Have a good year, all!
