Cherry Blossoms at Gardens by the Bay
I dragged Ottie along to see the cherry blossoms at the Gardens by the Bay on Monday. It was my first time seeing cherry blossoms, and I was so excited! Tickets for just the Flower Dome, one of the two cooled conservatories at the Gardens by the Bay is SGD $12 for a citizen and $16 for a foreigner (standard ticket). Not bad considering that we were under the impression that standard tickets could only be bought in a bundle of 2 conservatories at $28 according to the website and signs on the ticketing office.
Anyway, this exhibit will only last till tomorrow, so make sure to check it out before Singapore is deprived of beautiful pastel blooms! Looks like the gardens will extend their opening time to 10pm this long weekend to accommodate the crowd, and according to RQ whom we bumped into (she’s working part-time there over the school holidays), last weekend was no joke; I can only imagine what this finale weekend will be like… it’s still so worth it though, even if it’s just a taste of what it’d be in places like Japan, Korea, etc. during sakura season.
Apart from the special exhibits, the Flower Dome also hosts a variety of colourful greens. I also loved that artworks were incorporated into the living displays, some of them familiar scenes from classic storybooks:
Couldn’t get enough of these succulents!
I wore my phoenix kimono out for this floral excursion, but it looked like I wasn’t the only one dressing to a theme – we spied cosplayers and even a wedding couple who took advantage of the pretty sights! I didn’t go all crazy with my outfit as I had errands to run involving government officials in the morning, so I opted to start off with my day with this maxi dress. How I’ve missed wearing this soft piece! I had previously worn it here, here, & here. Wow, those were the days.
