Bohemian Luxe has always seemed to be a favourite in clothing trends, recurring every now and then over the years. ‘Luxe’, short for ‘luxury’, has gained traction through its attachment to various styles, and I can see why – classy bling is always a welcome look, no? Even Zalora, one of my favourite local shopping destinations, has curated their very own page on bohemian luxe fashion, showcasing items that fit the bill. As someone who’s attracted to shiny things and who’s recently acquired a number of pretties to my wardrobe recently, it was only natural for me to try my hand at this trend in bloom. (See what I did there.)
My new items make their first appearances here, seeing as they just about fit together perfectly to form the look. For me, bohemian style conjures up the image of a floral wreath perched upon a head of wavy tresses, bare feet peeking out from a flowy dress which billows in the breeze among a field of autumn flowers, the sun setting in the horizon casting a warm glow over all creation.
Throw in a luxe component, and the floral crown turns into chains of gold, feet clad in sky high platform boots against the backdrop of the urban jungle. The fast-paced life of the city requires a utilitarian approach to clothing – a skin-tight cropped tank top and a pair of skinny jeans offers the aerodynamic silhouette to navigate the city tubes… perhaps I’ve been watching too many Blade Runner-esque shows recently and it has bled into my take on street style. Despite the dystopian inspiration of this look, my field of flowers was brought along to complete the bohemian luxe look through my new floral kimono cardigan. Can I just mention just how much I love this piece. This mix consists of colours that hit all the right buttons for me. <3
I’m not exactly a normal jeans kind of person, but with certain aspects of my work requiring me to don the colour black and appropriately-coloured jeans, I’ve found the need to populate my wardrobe with a few of these basic necessities. This pair of ultra stretch jeans was obtained through a $100 voucher I won through a style competition on Uniqlo some time back. Go me! I originally chose a washed, dark grey denim, but after trying my options in the fitting room, found that the black was surprisingly better looking on me than my favourite midtone. With all the online shopping that I tend to do, sometimes I forget that going to a brick-and-mortar store does serve a purpose.
Still, as a self-confessed 宅女, online shopping has always been much easier to deal with, not least because of the significant lack of withering stares from store clerks one might have to endure while investigating every single item in detail because of the need to know all the things before making an informed decision to part with one’s money.
Contemplating my gold hair chain from Irresistible Me. The online store specialises in beautiful hair extensions, and also has a selection of pretty jewels to adorn your crown! This was the first look I styled with the beautiful items I received recently. More to come soon, so stay tuned!
