I always get a little bit excited whenever someone brings up Uniqlo, one of my favourite Japanese clothing brands. Much as I favour mess in various aspects of my life, my need for organisation in compartmentalised areas drives me to appreciate the beauty of the understated. After all, chaos holds no meaning without order.
My recent shopping trip to Uniqlo unearthed this chaotic Jeffrey Fulvimari speech bubble top and classic striped pencil skirt. Together they create an outfit inspired by the juxtaposition I so love about the store; bright, permeating fluorescent lights creating wide open spaces for shelves so tall that they enclose the space within- little pockets to browse items without distraction. Clothes are neatly organised, but the sense of sterility is banished at the sheer number of colours and prints of its items.
It’s a delicate balance they tread welĺ.
