The OC Fair
We went to the Orange County Fair during the summer. I had gone to the Minnesota State Fair the previous September, so I got to see sights both familiar and new at this one in California.
I would have gone on this ride if it weren’t so expensive.
Morningstar Farms had free samples of their vegetarian sandwiches, and a marquee to pose in front of while staff took pictures for their instagram on an ipad.
Bicycles were part of the options for prizes if you win this sharp shooting game. However, you have to shoot out all the red of the star in one round. Quite a number of hopefuls we observed missed by just a teeny bit.
Some of the awesome prizes to be won:
Minions and co. from Despicable Me.
Sonic the Hedgehog in silver.
I loved the Smurfs there, and didn’t realise why until Lilli pointed out that it was because their eyes reminded her of Lemongrab. ♥
Ela and I shared a fried Klondike bar.
Me, Lilli, and Ela had to do this.
The Farm
Dorset sheep covered in blankets so that they didn’t ruin the three to four hours of work that was put into preparing them for judging.
A Zebra Finch.
A crowd gathered outside the barns to see the two huge cows that were chained together by a yoke. I don’t think that the cows looked too thrilled about it.
There was a pig racing event, but we were too late for the one at 1pm. We did get there early for the 3pm show though.
The host had excellent showmanship, and the names for the pigs were incredibly cute- Ham Solo, Luke Skyporker, Chewbacon, etc. It was thoroughly entertaining.
One of the winning pigs was taken out to be photographed with at the end of the races.
There was even a stadium for concerts. I remember that the current band were actually pretty good.
And then because I had to use up the points that I had bought in my Fun Pass, a beer pong game where I won a pink crayon. A prize if you guess correctly three times what I thought it looked like, and the first two are free.
