Perth: Murals & Elizabeth Quay
Last year, I made a spur decision to visit Kooling of Beads & Blossoms in November for an extended weekend. I dragged Ottie with me and we caught an early morning flight to Perth. A cat nap later, we managed to muster the energy to follow Kooling, our host and guide for our trip, to some interesting places.
Brunch at Uncle Joe’s Mess Hall. Such a pretty place for food and also to get a haircut!
We wandered on downtown and I couldn’t help but linger on some colourful walls:

The day called for light makeup, as I didn’t want to stress my already tired-face out, so I simply lined my eyes with a shimmery brown eyeliner from Colourpop Cosmetics. I love how easy and pigmented this was, even though it has a tendency to break off due to my inability to control my excessive brute force.
We later headed down to Elizabeth Quay for some gelato:
Let me just… crop that derp out.
This was not the first time I’d climbed trees for photos in both the capacity of a photographer and one who’s being photographed, but it’s so rare to find a good climbable tree that it always feels like I’m doing it for the first time.
Truth was I needed help to get up there, so here’s a picture of Ottie’s glee at being able to grope my butt in broad daylight.
And that was it for our first day in Perth! A lot of other things happened too, such as when Ottie and I had to expedite an entry visa for the both of us because we thought that our passports were sufficient visa permits – they were not, and we wound up having to shuttle to different terminals in Changi Airport just to get it done in the middle of the night. For twice the price it would normally cost if we’d only applied online at least twenty-four hours prior to our departure.
And then because we didn’t have time to change currency, we attempted to withdraw cash from an ATM to no avail so I had to go to the nearby bank to get help, and failing that, call up my local bank to troubleshoot the problem. We solved these eventually, but the hassle of it all was definitely not worth it.
Better preparation next time!
