Making a Flower Bouquet
I surprised Ottie with a bouquet a flowers a couple of days before Christmas this past week. Neither of us had given each other flowers before, and it was a subject that had popped up recently, so I took the opportunity when I had an off day to head over to Far East Orchid to pick out some blooms. Despite my mock-complaining that he’d never given me flowers in our four years together, what was better than receiving flowers was claiming the spot of giving him flowers first. I kissed him first four years ago, so he came back by proposing to me first last year; I wasn’t going to just retire into being the passive one in this relationship.
And anyway, we both knew that the flowers I bought him were going to be mine within the hour.
I thought it apt to wear my new embroidered floral skirt from Shein to the flower farm! I loved that it was embroidered all around – too many full embroidery skirts are only front-facing, which is a little off-putting because of the abrupt discontinuity.
I also stuck on some Gudetama nail stickers from Holika Holika that Nacchan generously bought from her trip to Korea! All but one of the stickers fell off because I don’t have clear top coat nail polish though. :(
I also went a lighter route in the eyeliner department by gliding on brown instead of my usual black. The ColourPop eyeliner was a gift from Evy and was so richly pigmented it went on my eyes like an aerodynamic dream.
Makeup used: Inglot Face & Body Illuminator, OPI nail polish, Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream, Benefit Ka-Brow! eyebrow liner, I’m Meme Stick Shadow in Falling Star, Pony Effect Favorite Fluid Lip Tint in Cherish Value, ColourPop Creme Gel Liner.
I’m a very slow shopper, and after more than three rounds in what I term the freezer, finally picked out some purple Roses (B-grade – SGD $19.63) because purple is his favourite colour, tinted Metalasia (SGD $8.88) for contrast, and past favourite Paranomus (SGD $10). I also bought some other flowers because I couldn’t help myself, so perhaps they may surface in a future post or something.
Unwrapping the flowers. I had to trim the stems somewhat, since these three bunches were of different heights. I also stripped the roses of leaves and thorns past the 15 cm mark, because that’s what I saw on a poster in the freezer in the flower farm. Meanwhile the Metalasias made a complete mess of my bed by dropping shit all over it. NO MORE METALASIAS NO MATTER HOW PRETTY THEY’RE COLOURED.
I stuffed some damp cotton wool in a white cloth bag that comes when you buy new shoes, stuck the bunch of stems in it, and wrapped it up nice and sweet with some white wrapping paper, also recycled from shoe boxes. Finally, I used some brown twine I’d bought from IKEA so many years ago to secure it.
This was the final bouquet! I got these pretty copper lights from Dresslily. They make everything so dreamy~
I did a pretty bang job, if I must say so myself. :P
