K-Palette Competition Winner Haul
Remember my last post about K-Palette sometime back? It turned out that I was one of three winners for the makeup challenge. Yay me! What I won was a set of K-Palette 1 Day Magic cosmetics, a voucher to JRunway, and a session at Shunji Matsuo Hair Studio to complete my makeover. Here’s a video of my haul (and I promise to focus correctly for my next video eh heh):
And here be pictures of my newly-acquired goodies:
K-Palette 1 Day Magic series – liquid eyeliner, fiber mascara, eyeglue liquid, and contouring 3D palette. I’ve waxed lyrical about this series already, but let me just reiterate just how impressed I am with its liquid eyeliner. Eye makeup hasn’t been as scary to me ever since I discovered just how comfortable applying, wearing, and removing eyeliner can be. It really is magical just how easy the flat brush slides over my eyelids. I’m such a convert and have so been getting my eye makeup game on.
Accessories from JRunway– mermaid earrings and daisy headband from Osewaya, and triangle earrings from The O. I had to peel myself away from the wide array of cute earrings on display at the shop and spend within my $50 voucher budget; I wanted to complete my makeover with what I won after all. I ended up topping up my purchase by $1.10 for these three darlings. I’ve never been much of an accessories person (despite accruing evidence that suggests otherwise), so this shopping trip sought to rectify that. I’m so enamoured with my mermaid score! Couldn’t help but pose a mermaid badge I drew next to it.
Finally, I booked my hair appointment at Shunji Matsuo Hair Studio for my cut and styling session to complete my makeover.I mentioned in my video that my last haircut occurred about nine months ago in Shanghai. I had been feeling the heavy weight of it recently, so winning a haircut couldn’t be more timely. My appointment was at the Shunji Matsuo flagship outlet in Ngee Ann City. Having never been for a haircut at Shunji Matsuo before, I was surprised to learn that the flagship store consisted wholly of directors- hair stylists who are not just at the top of the grade, but also contribute to the company through roles such as managerial duties. Justin was my stylist and his stoic reaction to my disheveled mess I called hair that morning deserves mention. He worked his magic over my tangled tresses as he dispensed tips on how to maintain my soon-to-be awesome hair. Snapshots of the process:
I got so much excess hair chopped off that a picture of the discarded hair on the floor had to be taken. And this was just the preliminary round that Justin went through for this session. He even fluffed the ball of hair up just for the photo. It could almost be alive… I showed it to Ottie and he said it looked like a small dog:
Had to take a picture with Justin I was so excited for my new hair and he was so nice.
One great thing I loved about my experience there was the professional attitude the stylists displayed; not once did I get pressured into buying product. The constant touting I’ve always experienced at other hair salons was one of the reasons why I refrained from visiting such places until it was absolutely necessary, and so it was refreshingly absent in this studio. I’ll be going back! I think my session originally costs $68, which includes a wash. At least that’s what I spied on the chit placed in front of me.
I felt so fabulous that numerous photos of myself were shamelessly taken as I walked around town.
A few outfit photos also happened, to document my makeover featuring the products and services that I won:
And then I got Bro to take a couple more for me because I looked and felt fantastic.
