Ecochella 2013
If you haven’t gotten enough of me already…
F21 top // Zara skirt // UO tights // Top Shoes boots // The Little Fox The Runaways necklace
My Zara skirt had actually shrunk quite a bit after it was subjected to the washer and dryer, because I’m lazy and don’t bother to hand wash my clothes. This meant that the inner lining became longer than the outer wool. Two years later, I finally took out the sewing kit to do a mass sewing repair for all of my clothes and this was one of them; I lifted the hem of the inner lining so that the skirt looks more presentable. Finally!
I went to this year’s Ecochella with Lilli and Nam. It was the first that either of us had heard of the event, and we wanted to see what it was all about. It was great to have Lilli along, who guided us through the convoluted pathways of the dorms to reach the entrance where Ecochella was held. UCLA is a huge place. OTL
Bike-powered lights and stage for the concert.
We got these cute Ecochella badges!
There was a free sampling of chocolate-coated coffee and nuts at another booth.
We chanced by another booth that had a spin-the-wheel quiz game. We had to decide whether the item that we landed on the wheel was to be placed in the trash, recyclables, or compost category. Lilli and Nam went first, but they answered wrong for their items and got a complimentary pen. Prior to my turn, I had been studying the helpful guide on the bins in front of that booth, and so got my answer right (used plastic utensils belong to compost), which won me the small scale model recycle bin! And to think that I never knew what compost was until earlier that week.
I gave my prize to Lilli, who’d earlier expressed her desire for it. Look at how happy she was!
Me making googly eyes with ping pong balls won from another random spin-the-wheel booth.
Nam, Lilli and I with our loot.
We later went to Jose Bernstein’s for some Mexican:
My tacos! It’s really yummy. Mexican isn’t the top of my list of favourite foods, but somehow the tacos here seriously make me reconsider my personal food ranking. And it’s cheap too.
Nam had Quesadilla. She’s vegetarian, so she substituted meat out.
Lilli opening the lid of the recycling bin.
For dessert, we headed next door to BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse for a Pizookie. That’s the lovechild of a pizza and a cookie, apparently. Nam got a Red Velvet Pizookie and I had the pleasure of helping her finish it. It’s pretty expensive for such a small dessert, but well worth trying!
