Dust Settles
I regret very few things about my move back to Singapore, but one of them is the frequency of allergic reactions to whatever it is here- the increased humidity, the proliferation of dust mites, life. It’s a terribly inconvenient thing to go through, something that I managed to forget about in my excitement about coming back to the warm embrace of Singapore’s food and family.
Nevertheless, I’m back, and another sneeze attack happened on the day I signed up for a National Library Board organised class on an introduction to fashion illustration. The class was pretty enjoyable, despite my knowing most of what was being taught in the two hours from my years studying animation (and the human anatomy); revisiting the basics and playing with colour pencils was a soothing balm to my mood too.
Comfort was key for the day. I didn’t know if the venue was going to be cold, but considering how all national libraries were air-conditioned, I brought along a thin cardigan instead. Turned out that I could have brought a much, much thicker one. Hah!
I had time after creating these designs, so I delved into creating close-up portraits of each piece.

Hey Lindsey, thank you! It was a one-off programme organised by the National Library Board. I think they do have recurring fashion illustration classes, among others. You can check it out their arts events here: http://www.nlb.gov.sg/golibrary/programme/Arts.aspx :)
