Creature of Habit
I originally titled this post “That Nun Dress” before realising how wonderfully punny the current title is. I wanted to write a bit about the thoughtless grind of taking outfit photos for my blog simply for the sake of creating content. Interestingly, the dress featured in these three outfits is what Ottie calls my “nun outfit” – it’s long, black, and I should stop right there because I just found my mind in the gutter.
Anyway, I’ve been thinking for a while now about steering this space into something with more intent. Simple outfit photos against a backdrop usually doesn’t compel me to write anything substantial anyway, so what’s the point apart from it being steady visual fodder? I suppose that I’ve finally found myself wanting a good balance of making images that I can be proud of, as well as having the freedom to document parts of my life for posterity’s sake.
Also, in the hopes that this move might free up more time for me to pursue other hobbies I’ve neglected along the way – drawing, cursing at my deceitful brain because I lack the patience to draw properly, and well, trying to etch into my forgetful mind all of the brilliance of the Discworld novels now that there’s none left. Two years and still we march on, searching for simple pleasures to escape the rote.

I suppose this move is still a work in progress.
