Recounting my trip to South Africa in September took a backseat with all the outfit photos et cetera, but I’m going to be continuing them sporadically now that my recent vacation is over. 2015 has seen me traveling quite a bit! Seems like every time I manage to take a breather it’s always cut short by something or another – not that I’m complaining, especially if those somethings mean that I get to whisk away to another part of the world, another glimpse of a different culture.
Anyway, Ant brought Ottie and I to one of his favourite haunts back when he was studying in the University of Cape Town. The Groote Schuur Zoo is a haunting remnant of what used to be, having been established in 1931 and abandoned in 1975. It’s probably hard to reconcile my paranoia over dark places and the supernatural, but abandoned and derelict spots have somehow managed to secure a spot in my scaredy-cat heart. Luckily, I had two dependable friends to keep a lookout for potential ghostly prowlers and security guards who might lock us up for real if we got caught loitering in the cages, heh.
We headed to the Rhodes Memorial as the sun set, and I switched out my shoes for a bit:
